In browser when viewing a PDF file and it links to page no 5 in another PDF file it only opens page 1

I open a PDF file in IE 8.0 which links to a specific page in another pdf file, but only opens the pdf files first page. Seems that the set page parameter is ignored.

The PDF link to a specific page in another PDF file works when viewing within Arcobat Reader X, but when viewing under I.E 8.0 or I.E. 6.0 the page link is ignored and the PDF file opens to the first page only. All files are resident on the computers hard drive.

Example: User opens file1.pdf under Microsoft XP, I.E. 8.0 has a link to file2.pdf page 20. When user is in file1.pdf and clicks the link which opens file2.pdf, file2.pdf opens to page 1, not page 20.

All links work correctly when viewing under Reader X, or Reader 9 but the links not working correctly when under Internet Explorer.

May be a compatibility issue…

thank you for the reply. Seems that it is most likely a compatability issue, but I can't located any items listed as incompatible from the link you provided. I open the PDF file in IE browser 8.0 and click on a link that opens up another pdf file to page 18. The other PDF file opens but it only opens to page 1. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
