Bulk updating PDF template

Forgive me if this is a basic question, but I've searched around a lot and haven't found anything.

I have several hundred product PDFs that all use the same basic template, but have different content. I'm using "template" in the generic sense to refer to the background image, font, content positions, footer text, etc; I'm not referring to form templates.

We've developed a new template for the PDFs and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to automatically update all of the existing PDFs with the new graphics, etc. If I have to update them all manually it's going to take a very long time.

Also, is there a better way to build the PDFs so that in the future these changes can be done easily?

Acrobat Standard 9.0, Windows

You might what to play with "Backgrounds"
(May not be available with Standard.)

Using Acrobat Pro you can place a PDF or a file that is one of those supported by Acrobat as a "Background".
Later, you can replace this Background with another.
With Acrobat Pro, use:
Document > Background
Choices are Add/Replace | Update | Remove.

How effective this would be for you is likely to be a function of content placement in the "target" PDF and the "background" file.

May be worth the upgrade if Standard lacks the "Background" facility.

Be well...

Actually, I just found out that they're made in Word and then converted to PDFs after that, so I'll need to look for a way to do this in Word.

Thanks for your help, though.
