Bursting a pdf into separate pdfs...

I have a pdf document that contains statements generated by another application, and output to a pdf file. A statement may be 1 page, it may be up to 25 pages. At the same position on each page is a document identifier. I need a way to process the complete document, and split/burst it into separate pdfs, each named with the document identifier.
For example, in the header I have a string '000123_201105_AAA', which represents company '000123', statement dated '201105', for agent 'AAA'. There may be 5 pages with this identifier. The 6th page has an identifier of '000124_201105_BBB', which is a different company. So any time the identifier changes, I need to save the accumulated pages using the corresponding identifier.

Can Acrobat do that? We had been using ReportToWeb to burst our documents, but that server has had a meltdown and is being rebuilt. We have some users with the full Acrobat product (unfortunately I'm not one of them...), so if it can do this, I would commandeer their workstation for awhile to get these split...

Thanks
Steve

This can probably be done with a custom-made script (depending on how the file was created), but it would require quite a bit of scripting knowledge to create it. If you want, you can contact me personally to discuss it further.
