Change background color while viewing PDFs normally (not full-screen)

Acrobat Reader 8 had a gray window background when you were viewing a PDF. I've upgraded to Acrobat Pro 9 and the background is black. I hate that. Is there any way to change the background back to gray?

I've found the setting for full-screen, but I never view my PDFs full-screen, so it does me no good. And Accessibility settings seem to apply to the contents of PDFs, not the window background.
