cloaked pdf

I opened a multi-page document with Acrobat 8 ... and did something (I know not what) that caused the first few pages of the document to be covered over with a solid color close to the background color.

How can I restore the pdf to its original condition? Apparently I saved the document before realizing that this condition had occurred.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

let me correct the statement of the problem. >>>ALL of my pdf files have a cloak that covers the entire document.

Obviously, there is something that needs to be turned off in AA8

If you open the Comments navigation panel, do you see any Comments inserted in you document? If so, select them to see if it selects the cloaked area.
