Hi
I've started a new job and am using Adobe Acrobat Pro X to prepare color PDF documents to be archived onto microfiche. Ultimately, I need monochrome (bitonal) tiffs for each page, and when a document contains color text, especially *light* color text like orange or light green, readability suffers after the conversion.
I've been trying to dig through the tools and documentation about color conversion and "Preflight", etc., but unfortunately I have almost no experience with color management and what I'm seeing of it looks rather complicated. I would like to know if I can simply use the color converter on text, and have all text be converted to black. When I've tried, the best I could do was to turn orange text light gray! Perhaps someone here could offer some suggestions?
I would be very grateful!
Thanks,
Ian

There are many other methods to accomplish this. Specifically you can use the Print Production tools and Convert Colors, with a Grayscale profile. Using a profile with a higher dot gain (20 % or higher) can make those Oranges turn into darker grays.
You can also use the touch-up text and touch-up object tools to change the text color before conversion.
