Cut and paste portions of text only?

Is it possible to cut and paste sections of text (for instance a column out of a table) in version 8? I want to take a select group of numbers from the center of a table (without capturing all of the rows across the table) and paste them into excel. Earlier versions allowed you to pick a box of text and copy it but I can't find this in version 8. Thanks,

Use the Select Text tool in the tool bar, drag around the text you want and right click to copy.

You could also use the Snapshot tool - from the menu bar, click Tools, Select & Zoom, Snapshot tool.
