Extended Reader Rights Issues: Save JavaScripts do not work?

Hey guys,

Form is finally finished (I thought) but I am running into a road block. I realized after I sent it out to one person to test, that I needed to do Extended Reader Rights on the form for it to work in Reader. So, I did this and sent that version out to my tester.

They can now fill everything out and they can save the file fine by saving it manually. However, if they try to go through my scripted buttons, which run a few javaScripts and then "execute a menu item" to "Save As", it saves the form as completely blank and they lose their work. I have two separate buttons that this do, and both are not saving anything but a blank form. I can't seem to duplicate this on my version of Reader, but I'm not sure if that's b/c I have the Adobe suite installed as well.

Any thoughts, dear friends?

Your buttons are unable to run the trusted function installed on your computer is not installed on your sisters computer and the call to that function is failing to find the necessary code to save the PDF. If your sister can open up the JavaScript debugger, she should see an error message.

LOL I don't have a sister, but thanks for the response! I'm not sure that she'll know how to open up the debugger. Is there any way to remedy this issue? When you say "trusted function" do you mean the "Execute File Menu" -> "Save As" built in JavaScript action? Is there a way to script it so that it will run?

Ah, with further research I'm afraid that doing a folder level script is just not going to work for this form. I have removed the save prompts and just put instructions in their place. I think that will do for this particular form. Thanks again for your help!
