I am used to creating a full text search index whenever I build a library. Recently, the need for the index.pdx was questioned. The individual questioning the need stated that it only minimally improves the search speed. Your feedback is most welcome.
In regards to the questioning of the value of a catalog index or indices for PDF documents in an eLibrary.
Miss Manners would not approve of what I want to state.I maintain a network based online eLibrary I built some 9 years ago.
It is accessible and used by the geographically dispersed business unit's staff.
Without the integration of the multi-tiered cataloged indices the acquisition
of relevant information associated with the specific activity being pursued, would not be possible.
Does having these cataloged indices in any way improve the speed of query return(s)?
Absolutely.
Is the quality and comprhensiveness of the query and query return superior?
Absolutely.
There [b]IS[/b] a significant difference between "Find" and "Search".
