How To Open File Using Absolute Path

I have uploaded some PDF files to our intranet. These documents contain several links. All of the links to pages within the open document or to one of the other PDF files that has been uploaded, open without any difficulty. However the links to files saved to our network drive will not open. It's treating it as a relative link and inserting the intranet address in front of the file path.

Has anyone experienced this problem? I was thinking that if I create a virtual directory on the intranet to the folders where the files are saved this may fix the problem. Before I test this though, I was hoping there was some setting within Acrobat that I have overlooked. I'm using 7.0 Professional.

Thanks in advance for any feedback or insight you can offer.

FYI: It's a patch, not the solution, but creating a virtual directory to the folders does work. If anyone has the solution to this problem though, I'm very interested.
