I am using acrobat 8 standard and I can't seem to edit an image in a pdf which was created with acrobat 8 professional. Is there a difference between standard and professional and working with images.also the document is not locked.

If you need to change image attributes, you need to click the image with the TouchUp Object tool and from a context menu select Edit Image (alterantely you can press the Ctrl/Option key and double click the image with the TouchUp Object tool). Doing either launches Adobe Photoshop (by default if Photoshop is installed on your computer). You can edit the image, choose Save (not Save As) and the image is dynamically updated in Acrobat.
If you don't have Photoshop installed, open the Preferences and click TouchUp in the left pane. In the right pane click the Choose Image Editor button and select the image editing program you use.
