"Insufficient data for an image" message

Ever since updating to Reader 9.1 any PDF file from my wife's employer will not open, but gives the message, "Insufficient data for an image." Some of my wife's co-workers have complained of the same problem. We all think it's a problem with how the files are being generated by the employer but, when brought to the attention of the office, were told it is a problem with the workers' individual home computers and not the files created by the employer. The files will not open in other PDF readers either (at least not on our computers - I don't know if co-workers have tried other readers). Any suggestions or third party corroboration we can bring to the employer stating that it is their file generation that needs to be rectified to be compatible with the latest Adobe Reader version(s)?

Perhaps you could post what, specifically, is being used to create the PDF files and the routine's configuration/setup for PDF output?

I've no idea, but I can try to find out. In the meantime, have you any suggestions? Is it a problem with Reader 9.1 or with the file coming from the employer?

i am using reader 9.3 and this week i get the "insufficient data for an image". If i send the scanned item to another computer it works but not this one. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 9.3 but I still have a problem. My c drive has 43MG free space. Where else can I go to correct this problem????

We are having this problem on multiple Windows XP machines with multiple PDFs. It seems that most of the PDFs that don't work were created from a canon ImageRunner. Also they all open fine with version 9.1.1, but give the "Insufficient data for an image." error when 9.1.2 or later is installed.

Anyone have any ideas? I believe that Adobe just became more strict in errors in formatting on the newer versions, but re-formatting these documents would be a large job... We are about to push out an upgrade to 9.3 enterprise wide due to the recent security issues found so this will become a big problem fast.

I use Adobe v6 to create my personal pdf files. Typically text files with around 100 pages. These work fine with Adobe creator 6 with which they were made but in Reader v9.3 and many previous versions of Adobe Reader only some of the pages are readable and I get the "Insufficient data for image" message.

Very frustrating.

Someone out there must have a fix for this.

I upgraded to Acrobat 9 several months ago. I never had this problem before. I get the same message when I insert or delete pages. I also get it when I copy a file using the save as feature. I'm finding it very hard to get a solution. Even my IT Guru's can't figure it out.

I have been exporting invoices on PDF format on my QuickBooks accounting program for 6 years with no problems, and in the past week have come across the same issue using adobe 9.3.2.

I have spent 2 hours this morning trying to work around this - being self employed I am not getting paid for this lost time - not to mention the numerous clients who are will be late paying their bills until I can work out how, or if I can send them an invoice in another electronic format. I am not a bit happy right now!!!

My clients who use QuickBooks, and do not have any company logos on their invoices seem to be okay, so I reckon that (maybe) it is an issue with my logo - which is a small jpeg image, nothing spectacular, and nothing that the older versions couldn't handle.

Any chance Adobe? This is really not good enough.

Were these files created with an Asian language version of Acrobat? Try saving the document to a different name to see if it corrects the problem.

in control panel --> regional and language options --> advanced -->choose English (united states) in (select a language to match the language version
of the non-unicode programs you want to use)
