Hello--
I have one parent PDF (construction drawing), and I have several PDFs (called RFIs) attached to the parent PDF. In the parent PDF I have a link to a page view of one of the attachments, which works fine, but I want the parent PDF to stay open (I finish viewing the linked file (RFI), then I return to viewing the drawing). When I link to the page view of the attachment, the parent file closes. Any ideas??
Any help that anyone can provide will be much appreciated.
Use the link tool to access the Link Properties of a link.
Click on the Actions tab.
In the "Actions" pane, select the "Go to a page in another document".
Click on the Edit button.
A new dialog appears ("Go to a page in another document").
In the "Target Document" pane, use the drop down menu next to
"Open in:" to select "New Window".
Click OK button.
Click OK button.
Back out of the Link tool by selecting the Hand tool.
Perform a Save As to create the new test PDF.
Try the link that you modified.
The attached PDF that is the target document should open in a new window.
Using Acrobat 9 Pro Enhanced I get a second "session" of Acrobat that is
displaying the PDF attached to the "master" PDF.
With Acrobat 8 (Pro or 3D), following the same sequence,
I get the 2nd PDF rendered in the same Acrobat "session" but as a 2nd file.
That is, clicking Windows on the command bar I have two PDFs open with
the second showing. When I close this PDF the first PDF is now in view.
