Maximum page size error OCRing PDF created by Mac OS X

Hi:

I've got some pdf scans of letter-sized documents that when I try to OCR them I get the error:

Error message:
--------------------------------------------------
Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because:
This page is larger than the maximum page size of 45 inches by 45 inches

--------------------------------------------------

Here are the document properties:
--------------------------------------------------
PDF Producer Mac OSX 10.4.11 Quartz PDFContext
PDF Version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)
File size: 317.12 KB
Page size: 35.42 x 45.83 in.
Tagged PDF: no

Page 1: Color image 2550. x 3300. pt 72.0 RGB (ICC) transparent
Page 2: Color image 2550. x 3300. pt 72.0 RGB (ICC) transparent

---------------------------------------------------

From above, changing 72.0 to 300.0 yields page dimensions of 8.5 in x 11.0 in (2550/300 = 8.5, 3300/300 = 11.0). But I don't know how to force the resolution change.

Anybody know how to convert this document to normal dimensions?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Roy,
Just nattering, but -
From the information you've provided it appears that, while the source paper is letter size, the application that is in immediate control of the scanner (the scanner driver) is feeding Acrobat a page size that is not 8.5 x 11.
A look at this driver's configuration as well as the Acrobat Preset's configuration (if used) may be useful.

Be well...

Possibly, but unlikely. I'm sure the page size on the creator end is 8.5 x 11; it's the 72 x 72 resolution that it's embedding in the scanned pdf that I think is the problem, causing the recipient to open a page that it thinks is 45 inches high.

I was able to use IrfanView to change the 72 x 72 to 300 x 300 dpi, which then caused AA8 to reinterpret the page dimensions as 8.5 x 11. Not pretty, but it works for now. Would be nice to know what's going on on the Mac end, but as this is the only instance of this problem I've seen, I'm assuming nobody is trying to OCR a pdf in Windows that's been scanned on a Mac. Printing the doc works because it's shrink to fit as the default. I can get some pretty strange, highly detailed very large jaggedy letters printing with no adjustment.
