From this question of March 19: I'm having the same problem. I've been working on 8 for a few months, and this same problem has just started happening in the last couple of weeks. i don't want to call tech support; i want a solution i can find online:

I get the following error everytime I close Acrobat 8 Pro:

The organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time acrobat is launched. Quit the application and close any currently open web browser’s.

Repair, uninstall, reinstall did not help at all. ANy thoughts?

A:Try to open Acrobat and add a file to a collection in the Organizer. Something that will cuase the Organizer file to be written to. Quit Acrobat and relaunch.

If that doesn't solve the problem, try to give Adobe Tech Support a call.

Hi --
I agree with Ted. If the repair doesn't work, take a few minutes and phone Tech Support -- it will save you time in the end.

I am using Acrobat Pro 9.0 on a Vista machine. I too am receiving the error message, "The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched."

I contacted Adobe Technical Support and they indicated that with 9.0 there is NO Organizer folder, but instead an Organizer90 file. They indicated that they cannot locate this file on their Vista machine and would get back to me on how to solve this issue. They also indicated that it behaves differently on an XP machine than on a Vista machine. Puzzling.

I would like to use this feature of Acrobat, but cannot use the Organizer, as it resets after each use.

Any ideas?

Hello mdavis501,

I have been struggling with this Organizer error for a couple of weeks now and have not found a solution other than disabling the Organizer altogether.
In order to do this open Acrobat:
1. Go to Edit-Preferences.
2. In the Categories Column (on the left) select and highlight Documents.
3. In the section “Open Settings” go to where it says: “Remember files in Organizer History for:”
4. Select: “Don’t Remember PDFs”.
5. Click on OK below.
6. Close Acrobat.
7. Now test it opening any file with which you were having problems with. You should not get the error "The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched” anymore.

It’s a shame that we cannot use the Organizer anymore but at least you won’t have the annoying error screen constantly popping up and interrupting your work.

Hope this helps.
