PC users can not open my pdf created on a Mac

Greetings,
I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro version 8 for the Mac. I have an intel iMac running OS 10.4.9. I scanned in a hand written letter using the scan command in Acrobat. That process went smoothly. I emailed the resulting pdf to two users on PCs. Neither of them could open the pdf. They are stumped as am I. I looked at the properties and all the headings read "allowed" and I did not require any passwords. Under the Advanced menu the verbiage in security (under Document Security) states that there is no security and that any version of acrobat should be able to read the pdf. What do I need to do to create a pdf that can be opened by PC users? Many thanks for any help.

what specific message are you/they getting. That would help better answer your question.

Make sure the users have the latest free version of Adobe Reader. And that the Reader is updated.
