PDF file manipulation...

To Whom It May Concern:

We currently have a requiremnet to do some manipulation on PDF files. We have no experience of this so we thought we would try to get some expert guidance. Any time we have received PDF files in the past all we have had to do with them was to print them. We now have a requirment to match up statements coming from two different sources. We have one PDF document with 1000 Trading Statements and one PDF document with 1000 Milk Statements. These figures are only aprox. The same supplier can appear in each of the files. We have to print the statements in such a way that these two statements are printed together one after the other to enable us to pack the statments into one envelope therefore saving on postage costs. Is it possible to do this? Also some suppliers might only be in one of the files. Also some of the Trading Statements can have more that one page in their statement. Previously we received these files as text file so we were able to load the files in a database and use the supplier account number as the unique identifier. Are there any products on the market to do the job we require as our customer is of the impression that there is.

Thanks for your help,

Let me know if you can be of assistance,

Kevin.

Are you saying that you want to extract certain pages from each to the 1000 page PDFs, and somehow match up the pages that should be matched up, and then print, and have this all automated? It would be possible if each page has the account number on it, especially if it's in a consistent location. You may be able to do this using JavaScript within Acrobat, but it's hard to say without looking at one of the PDFs. You can also search at http://www.pdfstore.com for products.
