I see several questions in several areas of Acrobat's web site, but I can't find the answer that fits my exact problem. When ever I click on any pdf file it opens in Word and of course it is garbage. I must open up the Adobe Acrobat program first and then click on the file. I can't find any place where I can set it to open all pdf files in Acrobat.

Where do you find "Always Open.............? This does answer the question of how to make sure a certain file opens every time, but it doesn't help me when downloading a file or form from the internet. I must always save it to my desktop, then open Acrobat and then open the file.

right click on file ->
open with ->
choose program (bottom of the list - will open another list) ->
select the program AND check the box under the list for 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' ->
OK

If other associations for the various other file type associated with the Acrobat/Reader product have been corrupted this option will not correct those associatons.

True, but he seemed unfamiliar with this process so I gave the information. And it's a simple and reasonable first thing to try. Hopefully it'll do the trick.

Use the "Repair Acrobat installation" option on the Help menu option.
