Pro 9 or Pro 9 Extended?

I'd suggest Pro Extended.
Presenter is bundled with it.
This could be useful for on line tutorials/quizes.

As to "securing" - it is like locking up the house when you depart.
For the most part, this does the trick; however, a determined individual can circumvent it, eh?

Thank you very much. I've just downloaded the trial and will real the tutorials. One more question :) Can I do my e-learning classes with Pro Extended or would I also need to purchase Connect? Or is Connect only to do live seminars or hold meetings? Is the extended media access the main difference with Pro Extended? I can see where the extended would be helpful.

"Extended media" -- yes, in a nut shell that's it.
Provided you've supported input, you can bring in 3D, Flash (which includes Captive SWF output), Sound, and Video.
So, with Acrobat 9 Pro Extended you can provide "rich media" lessons, job aids, etc.
User with Adobe Reader 9 will have a learning experience of greater impact and have longer retention of the information (assuming an appropriate balance of content elements).

Back to "pdf writers" - typically, after a PDF is created, people will often want to use Acrobat Standard or PRO to work on the PDF with comment/review tools, form tools, etc.
The problem is that far too many of the free/low cost alternatives do not provide PDF that is PDF Reference compliant let alone ISO compliant (PDF became an ISO Standard in 2008).
Consequently, the "poorly formed" PDF does not support the more robust features of PDF.
The "good" stuff is the result of detailed developer work and reflects this in the price.
Typically, "good stuffs" price point is comparable to Acrobat Standard / Acrobat Pro.
With that said, if a given "pdf writer" (other than an Adobe provided solution) meets your specific needs then go with it - just don't expect the 1 ton pickup truck to carry 2 tons & you'll be of a "good vib".Adobe Connect (aka Connect Pro): puchase options.

Connect Pro is rather impressive; however, the price structure does reflect this.

--| do a live eSeminar
--| record the eSeminar for availability via streaming later
--| process the recording to a stand alone FLV
--| pull in this FLV with Adobe Media Player (AMP) (via a RSS subscription)
--| while AMP is "awake" the FLV is on your HDD.
--| locate the FLV, copy to another location that is your "eLibrary"
--| the eSeminar is now available for use anytime, without being "online"

Something any content author may find interesting/useful.
Buzzword, at acrobat.com, can output to ePub.
Makes authored content available to many portable/mobile devices such as eBook readers.

While a smaller "venue", acrobat.com may be just right for online "classes".
Use Acrobat 9 Pro / Pro Extended to develop Portfolios of lessons/work sheets and place them in your account.
Participants/students can download these for use.

Back to "security" - my take is that there are the "knock-offs" and there is the effective, usable "stuff".
Make your product the latter.
The former is miasma from the land fill and users/customers who want/need unpolluted water in the marathon of life will gravitate to you.

Great information! Thanks. I'm ordering the extended version this week. Connect sounds wonderful - live seminars are on the horizon but it will have to go on the wish list for now.
