I can't seem to get the highlight feature to work using Adobe Reader X. How do you use it? (I can use Sticky Notes just fine.) HELP

Hi FurBabiesMom,

Does the PDF you are trying this with have any searchable text on it? What I mean is that some PDFs have text you can read but not search because the file is just an image. For example, you can convert a paper document to PDF by scanning it, but the result is just an image of the text (a picture of the original file) and therefore the highlight text tool will not recognize any text to highlight. Sticky notes are different and do not require active text to use the tool. Try going to the Comments pane and searching for a word on the document that is there to see if there is any active text.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Thank you VERY much for the prompt and helpful response, Dimitri. You are correct; the .pdf was a scan of a document from our Xerox machine. It's only an image and thereby, no searchable text (and no ability to highlight!) Bummer. :(

Much appreciation,

I am trying to get the sticky notes to work in the PDF form and it will not let me select that button. How do I make this happen. I just uploaded the newest version of Adobe

Possibly the document has some security settings that prevent you from adding comments to it, like sticky notes.
