I need assist from an Adobe Acrobat Expert or Tech.

I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard in my computer which is running Windows XP Home edition. I have updated Acrobat 6.0 when updates were avaialble.

When I open Adobe 6.0, I continuously get the following messages.

1] "Checking fro Updates"
2] "Adobe has been updated. Please restart before continuing."

Initially I would follow the above directions. However, even if I restart Adobe 6.0, I continue to get the same messages.

If I cancel out the message window with the #2 message “Adobe has been updated. Please restart before continuing,” I can use Adobe without difficulty. However I cannot get rid of this reoccurring nuisance message upon every opening of the program.

I have already reloaded the application three or four times after removing and completely cleaning my PC of any trace of Adobe, including from the registry.

Nothing seems to work. I know that somewhere in the world of Acrobat users there is someone who understands this problem. Need all the help I can get......

Your problem is with the Windows Installer, not with Acrobat. I've had it happen a couple of times to various programs. Sometimes it gets confused and thinks one application is another. Then, every time you start that application you get notices that components of that program need to be installed and can't be found. What you need is the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. I think you'll end up having to uninstall Acrobat in the process. Then you'll have the fun of laboriously reinstalling every incremental version of Acrobat, rebooting between each one. Why is that necessary? Because Acrobat uses the Windows Installer!

Good luck!
