Searching for highlighted text in a pdf document

I highlight important sections of my documents with the Highlight Text tool. I'd like to be able to search these documents for highlighted text, so that I can quickly locate what I had previously identified as important. I am having to scroll through lengthy documents page-by-page to find my highlighting. It's far too time-consuming to add a searchable annotation next to each important passage in a document. I may highlight ten different sentences on several different pages in a lengthy document. In MS Word, I can quickly search for highlighting by clicking on Find --> Format --> Highlight. Is there any way of doing this in Acrobat 8 Pro?

Many thanks to anyone with insight on this!

After having done the high light markups to your PDF have you opened the dialog window associated with the "Comments" icon?
This is typically in the lower left corner.
The dialog window that opens lists all High Lighted items.
You will notice that this dialog window permits a generous selection of added functionality for manipulating comments and markups made to the PDF (...sorting, searching, printing, etc.).

Select any of your high lights and right click the mouse to access the context menu for other options.

Be well...
