Select Object Tool Acrobat 8 Inoperative

I cannot get the select object tool to work in Acrobat 8 Standard with PDFs created from Office 2007 or even earlier versions of Office. I daily print my PowerPoint presentation in PDF and often need to move the text or objects on a page just a little. In Acrobat 5 I had no problems, but now have no clue as to what to do. I get no bounding box as help says I should get. I only get a dotted box as I drag which disappears as soon as I release the mouse. Maybe I should be asking how to get Acrobat 5 to run on Vista. Thanks much for any help. It will be much appreciated as I have spent hours on this one.
All the best

Have you downloaded and installed all updates for your Windows OS, Acrobat, and Office 2007?

Are you using the new "SaveAsPDFandXPS" file converter for MS Office 2007?

Go to MS Office Online and search by keyword PDF converter. Get the free converter from MS and install it.

Also try running, from the Help menu, Repair Acrobat Installation.

Eugene,

Really appreciate your response. Yes I have downloaded latest updates for both Vista, Acrobat (8.1.1) and office 2007. I also downloaded "SaveASPDF or XPS" file converter for 2007. I ran Repair Acrobat Installation and got not improvement. I tried using on old PDFs created from earlier versions of Office and still no bounding box. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
