Hi,

I put together a slash screen with links to 5 manuals for a client that will be put on a CD, they have a dozen photos that they want on the splash page (opening page) to play like a slide show. One fading in after a few seconds that one fading out and a new one fading in and so on. I don't have a problem crating a slide show and saving it as a QuickTime movie and adding it to the page. The problem is they don't want the person viewing the CD to have to load QuickTime if they don't have it on there computer. Is there any other way to create a slide show without making it a QuickTime movie? Maybe a java script?

Thanks for any help.

If your readers have Reader 9 or Acrobat 9, and you can put the images into a SWF file then you can just drop that straight into the PDF.

Thanks for the reply,

I probably can but I have no control over the end user, the CD-ROM will be handed out at trade shows so my client wants to make it as painless as possible when people watch the CD-ROM. I was hoping their was a way to create the slide show without needing any other viewer. I guess I can just create the opening page in Director and create one projector for a pc and one for the Mac. I was hoping to avoid doing it that way and keep everything in pdf format.

Thanks again,

You can always include the Win/Mac Reader 9 installers on the disc (about 50MB for the three - you need to ask Adobe for a distribution license, but it doesn't cost anything). Remember that OSX doesn't autoplay removable drives anymore, so any splash screen will only appear from the Windows partition of the CD.

Thanks UVSAR,
We do have a distribution license, I'll have to see if my client will go for that.

Thanks Merlin,
I'll look them over,

Thanks again.
