I saw where the typewriter tool has an icon for increase/decrease text leading. Please someone tell me that is NOT the only way to adjust leading. I'm hoping I am using the wrong tool. OMG

Which kind of text are you trying to adjust? If the running text, then Acrobat is the wrong tool. You need to go back to the original document, edit it and then re-create the PDF.
