Is there a way to update just footer without updating Header

My document has Headers at the top of each page and a page number at the bottom. I want to update the page numbers on each page without makign any change in the headers. The headers were created in Word. When I try to update the page number using "Documents-> Header and Footer -> Update" it removes all the headers also on the page. If I try to use "Add" instead of update, it adds a new page number at the bottom. Is there a way to update just footer without making any changes in header?

No, sorry. Header/footers created from Word are tagged in the file so they can be recognized as non-page content, but they do not contain the extra information necessary for Acrobat to fill in the dialog when you try and "update" them.

Why not add a new one, which covers the previous one?

I agree with Dave, the best spot for this edit is in Word, if possible. Gilad also has a good suggestion of simply overwriting the existing footer using Add.

The only other "cheat" to edit the footer would be to use the Touch-up Text tool (View > Toolbars > Advanced Editing). Then you could click on individual spots in the footer to edit the text manually.
