Under create links from urls in document processing in acrobat 8 pro does each web address have to have the www. in the address or is there a way to create from just something like yahoo.com

Yes, you need to have the www. in front of all urls using Acrobat 8 Pro.. In previous Acrobat versions you had to specify the complete url (http://....).
