Ok, I currently do VB for apps and I have assembly language background along with html programming. I create my own forms in Acrobat Pro 9. I am not familiar with java scripting for Acrobat, I realize to do more with Acrobat fields across several platforms I need to learn the java scripting instead of formcalc so who can recommend a good book to get started with java in Acrobat 9. I don't need a beginners book for acrobat, I get this already, I am looking specifically for java. Even better would be a book that has the ability to crossover into other platforms, but I need to start in Acrobat. Thanx.

For PDF development you need to learn JavaScript, not Java !

(Java and JavaScript shares only their 4 first letters)

First thing to know is that it's JavaScript, not Java. The two are not the same.

You can check out Ted Padova's book, "PDF Forms Using Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer Bible", but you can also simply have a look at the tutorials in this site, and of course browse through the Acrobat JavaScript API Reference, here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/javascript.html

If you do all of that, you'll know quite enough to do basic and intermediate scripts.
