What to do to be able to send acrobat files via Windows Mail

I am new here and have started to work with Windows7 and Windows Mail. When I try to send a pdf-document via email attachment the message comes that "Acrobat cannot connect to my email program.
Can someone please help and let me where and what I have to do to be able to do this directly - as I was able with XP and Outlook Express 6.

Is the following set? Edit > Preferences > Internet> Internet Settings, Programs, Set Program, Set Program Access and Computer Defaults, Custom, Choose a default email program.
