I am running Acrobat Pro 8. When I run a PDF through the OCR engine, either in batch or as a single document, it crashes and exits. I have tried it on different PC's and different Operating systems (XP Pro SP2, and Vista Business). It sometimes makes it through a few documents in batch before it crashes. Acrobat 7 Standard Ed. works perfectly every time (never has crashed on OCR), but I need to do batch, and I can no longer get acrobat 7 pro. Is this a widespread issue? Can I download 7 pro from adobe anywhere?

Acrobat 8 crashes a lot, as well as displaying other strange behavior. I think you've found a bug. Report this on the Acrobat User to User forum. There is also a link there for reporting bugs.
