Advice on databases

Anonymous
Answered

I need to find the best way to import and address from a database or an excel spreadsheet into the PDF. The database has around 5,000 entries! Can anybody stear me in the right direction on what method i should be looking into? I 4t i was on a winner when i decided to export the spreadsheet out as .txt file but the text file can only handle 100 entries. Is there another method i could choose, i also 4t that ADBC was the way to go but apparently its not available on Acrobat 9.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.1.3, Windows

ADBC is the way to go, and it should be available in Acrobat 9. You might need to change the registry to activate it, like it is with version 8. Have a look here: http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?pid=52990
Despite gkaiseril response in that thread, the ADBC object still appear in the JavaScript Reference for version 9*, so I believe it should work. I did not try to use it, however.

Hi try67,

thanx for egtting bach to me. Thats brilliant thanx

How do i go about changing the registry tho as i really have no idea about that. The first link you gave me went to my previos question. It did say about the plug in tho

Note: To activate ADBC, create a registry key of type DWORD with the name “bJSEnable” and a value of “true” (1) in the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\ADBC
This activates ADBC in Acrobat 8.0. In previous releases of Acrobat, ADBC was active

The 2nd link a the bottom came up with link unavailable due to scheduled maintenance!

You need to follow those instructions in order to enable ADBC in Acrobat.

I got it to work, thanx for letting me know it works. I did have to create a new folder in Acrobat 9 and got our IT guys to create the key for me and it worked a treat.

Thankyou.

Now got to get to grips with the ins and outs of it all :-)
