When I double-click on a Powerpoint file to open it, it opens, but then immediately starts getting converted to a pdf? How can I prevent this?

It almost seems as though the system has re-mapped .ppt files to be treated as .pdf files?

You can highlight a .ppt file and then 'right-click' and 'open with' - 'choose program' and reselect 'Microsoft Powerpoint' and then 'Always use the selected program to open the file'. Now Powerpoint should launch when you double click.

If you did want to convert to PDF you can either 'right-click' or use the PDF-Maker button in the toolbar ..

Cheers,

Jon

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

Jon,
I don't know how the Powerpoint files got remapped to be treated as pdf's, but that indeed was the problem, and your solution fixed it! Many thanks for your response and clear instructions.
