Automation with Adobe Acrobat

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I will give it a shot. I was wondering if there was a way in Acrobat to write some type of script to automate the process of exporting data from forms into an Excel file. I know that in Excel macros can be written to help automate a process like this. Is there something like this for Acrobat?

Thanks so much for your help!

Acrobat Professional can create forms by using Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer. Acrobat uses JavaScript and Acrobat JavaScript Extensions to add interactivity to the form fields. LiveCycle Designer creates forms using XML and supports an application specific language FormCalc and a variation or limited version of Acrobat JavaScirpt. More information is in the Developer's section of Adobe Acrobat support. both programing languages are more along the lines of Microsoft VBA not Excel macros.
