Corrupt CID font embedded in Preflight Report:

I created a Preflight Profile that has only one purpose, to check for font embedding. I use that profile in a Batch Sequence and run it against a collection of PDFs. For some reason the resulting PDF Report summary generated produces the error (numerous times have to click to clear) "Corrupt Font. Invalid Compact Font". In the fonts tab of Document Properties is shows Myriad Pro-Regular and Bold embedded as CID font with encoding as unknown. Why? How can I fix or create a report without a font error?

Hello,

I would look at the following:

1. update Acrobat so if you're Acrobat 7 patch to 7.0.9 and if you're Acrobat 8 then patch to 8.1.1.

2. use the droplet command under the Preflight options instead of the Batch Sequence

3. if after the above you're still experiencing problems, I would try creating a new user account to see if there's nothing gone weird with your internal fonts

Let us know how you get on since this does seem an application problem and not PDF as such,

Take care,

Jon

I've been using Acrobat since v1.0 and still get amazed by its power. An Acrobat ACE since 1999

Thanks for the reply, Jon. I have tried this on the following:
* Acrobat Professional version 7.0.9 on Windows XP,
* Acrobat Professional version 8.1.1 on Windows Vista (brand new install with new user account)

and get the same corrupt font error message.

I also tried:
* Acrobat Professional version 8.1.1 on Mac Tiger
* Acrobat Professional version 8.1.1 on Mac Leopard

and I do not get the error message on the summary report. When I look at the fonts, it still lists Myriad Pro and Myriad Regular, but the encoding is "Custom" instead of "Unknown."

I also tried all of the above using a Preflight droplet as you suggested instead of using the preflight profile in a batch sequence. I also tried creating my own preflight profile as well as using the "List text using non-embedded fonts" profile included with Acrobat 8.1.1.

No matter what I've tried, my preflight summary report produces the font error when I try to close or save the file from a WINDOWS platform.

You mentioned this might be a bug so I wanted to follow-up and share my results. Thank you!
