Does the JavaScript API have a way to access the "Document Properties"? For example, determine which PDF version a file is? Or check if the fonts are embedded or subset?

Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0, Windows

Does that mean you need to use the Adobe Library or something similar?

Yes, something like that. I believe there are a number of third-party tools/libraries that can extract such information.

Some third party pulgin like 'Enfocus pitshop' might have the options to do so...
