Editing and absolute references

What determines whether or not a form is edited in Acrobat vs LiveCycle designer? I find editing caluclation much simpler in Acrobat. At my job, we have an 18 page spreadsheet with all sorts of calculations, and if I convert it to a PDF in Excel, and run Form field recognition I am able to edit in Acrobat. If, however, I try and create a new form by using an existing electronic document, it only brings in the 1st page and I have to edit in LiveCycle.

I am also curious as to how to do absolute references in Adobe. The spreadsheet contains cells on page 3, which when filled, will populate cells in numerous other sheets. How can this be accomplished in Adobe, or can it be accomplished?

thanks in advance,

Nat

Question 1: If you choose the Forms > Create New Form menu command in Acrobat, Designer is launched. If you want to create a new form in Acrobat, convert an application document to PDF, open in Acrobat and edit the form. If you create a form in Designer, the form is not editable in Acrobat.Question 2: If the cells are contained in the same document you can simply add fields with the same names on different pages. Adding data to one field populates all other fields with the same name with the same data.

If you want to transpose data from one PDF to another, you need to run a JavaScript. It's complicated so you'll need to refer to the JavaScript Specification Manual you can download from Adobe's Web site.

If you want to dynamically add data in a PDF that populates cells in an external Excel file, you can't do that in Acrobat.
