We add a footer indicating the case number to the left side, bates numbers are applied on the right. When we remove the document footer, the case number is removed but the bates number remains. Now, however, Acrobat says there is no bates number found and won't remove it.
How do we fix this? Is there a specific order of operations to remove a bates number and document footer?
I tried this in Acrobat 9.3 Pro- first added a Footer ( from Document -> HeaderFooter menu item) with just text on the bottom left. Then I added Bates number to bottom right( from Advanced ->Document Processing ->Bates numbering). I got a dialog that said something like "there is already a footer in this PDF and if you add another they might overlap. I tried both the add and replace options separately. When I tried removing the footer from Document- Header Footer menu item I got the same results as you did- it removes the text on the left but leaves the Bates number on the right. So I went to Advanced ->Document Processing ->Bates Numbering and selected remove. That removed the Bates number.Acrobat is treating the footer text and Bates numbering as two separate items in the content.
Kinda wierd behavior by Acrobat, but since you cannot add a Bates number from the Document ->Header/Footer menu item it is treating them separately and I guess you will have to remove them in a two step process.Hope this helps,
