Acrobat Distiller can't read joboptions

Hi.

When printing a document to "Adobe PDF", I get the follwoing error:

Adobe PDF Settings file read error in :
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings

The joboptions files exist in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings". No clue why Distiller can't read the files.

Also when I open Distiller, I don't see the 2Default Settings". The combo box is simply blank!

Any ideas ... ?

Thanks

What version of Distiller are you using? Do you have any problems if you create a custom joboptions file?
Do you have R/W access to your joboptions files?

Hi.

Adobe Distiller 9.1

I can't even read a jobfile.

Yes, I'm Administrator, hence full permissions to file operations.

When opening Distiller, the list of Default Settings is simply empty!

This is my log when opening Distiller.

Have you tried creating a new joboptions file to see if that works? It sounds like the files cannot be accessed for some reason. What OS are you running Acrobat on?

Hi.

WinXP as Administrator.
I can create .joboptions using PS CS4. No problem. But I cannot load these with Distiller 9.1.
Distiller is started by Administrator.
I have no clue what goes on here ... ?!?!

Have you tried repairing your Acrobat installation?

Gonna have to try that one ...

Ok. No joy ...

Installed was: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended
I uninstalled at reinstalled - still same problem.

Then (for testing purpose), I installed Acrobat from Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection.
Same problem.

It's something systemwide which doesn't allow Distiller to see the joboptions!

No clue what this can be.

Apart from this, the system runs very smooth!

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Can you create a new joboptions file from Distiller not PS and save it to a known location where you have R/W access?

Have you tried to manually import them into Distiller? Open Distiller and then go to Settings > Add Adobe PDF Settings.

One of our Experts also suggested the following in another post:

check your decimal separator
1. Open Control Panel/"Regional and Language Settings" dialog
2. Click the "Customize" button on "Regional Options" tab
3. Choose period as "Decimal Symbol". Press OK, Apply
4. Launch Distiller
