Acrobat X errors

I create operation & maintenance manuals for equipment systems that we manufacture by joining/inserting several pdf documents together. I have a file with a pdf for each component that we use. The final manual is usually 1,200 to 2,300 pages long. I have been creating these manuals for 11 years with very few problems. Until we upgraded to acrobat x......

Now when I get about 100 pages in, I start getting the following messages:

"expected a dict object"
"there was a problem reading this document (14)"
"this document could not be saved (23)"

Eventually, the document can not be reopened or printed. I have had to create them in small sections to keep from losing them completely, this is ok for printing but often we are required to put these on CD as "one" pdf.

We were last using version 9 when we started having problems printing, our IT guy upgraded us to X.

I have tried the support number, twice I was asked to upload one the documents so that they could look it over & call me the next day, I never got a call & when I called them back I would get a different guy and have to start all over.

Any suggestions? I am getting desperate!

Check Preferences > Documents and try un-checking "Save As optimizes for Fast Web View". Let me know if this helps.

Hi Kelly,

I tried that, it didn't help at all. Thanks.

If you haven't already tried doing a Save As, you might try that. Also, there is a Preflight fixup in Acrobat Pro. that you might try called Repair damaged document.

Preflight is on the right in Tools > Print Production > Preflight. Once the dialog is up click the litte wrench icon at the top (Select Single Fixup), scroll to the Document section and expand it. You will see a fixup called Repair damaged document. Click the Fix icon at the bottom to run it.

Let me know if this helps...

(thanks Lori for tip!)
