Bad Parameters -- solution for me

Condition: Bad parameter message when trying to delete pages using Acrobat 9.0 (editing a file created in Word 2007, using File Save as .PDF).

Why not just print to the PDF print driver? Well, in this document, it mysteriously "hangs up" when it gets to a large collection of graphics. The file is 404 pages, and it hangs (even 24 hrs. doesn't move on) at page 225. So, Word's File Save As command is my only hope. (Adobe cannot solve the file hanging up issue, so Word 2007 is my work around.)

Meanwhile, I get the Bad Parameters problem when I try to edit the Word-created .PDF file.

The solution? It's not too savvy, but it works reliably for me. In essence, I create a blank .pdf file using the preferred PDF print driver (to create a "correct" internal file header).

Then I use Document ... Insert Pages from, and insert the full file (that was created using Word 2007's File Save As command).

With me so far? Now I have a blank page + my full 404 page file, and I just delete the blank page at the beginning. Adobe Acrobat now treats the entire file as though it were created via the Adobe PDF print driver.

Wow, this is really an old-folks' solution -- to create a new file header (start a new file) and insert whatever is corrupted into the fresh file. It works more often than you might imagine.

Good luck !

Your old-school solution seemed to work. I tried some other ways of fixing the Bad Parameter error, but your suggestion was the only one that allowed me to create a new PDF file and also retained all the hyperlinks and buttons that I added in my original PDF. All the other suggested ways to recover the file, would allow me to create a new PDF. However, the output file would not include the hyperlinks and buttons I added. Since I added all those links manually, I would have had to spend at least a full day reestablishing the links, which would have been a huge pain and a time sink. I apreciate you sharing your solution to this problem, since you saved me a lot of time and frustration.

THNAK YOU!
