When I PDF FrameMaker files, approximately 25% of the links are broken in the PDF file. They work in the source file. I am using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2. Why would links be broken in the PDF?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Hi,
May be akin to the problem MS Word users have with links.

What version of FM?
How are you laying down the links in FM?
What's the link syntax used in FM files?
Working FM files in one Book? ...many Books?
or, just many separate FM files?
Output PDF via save as; print files, print book?

All Books or affecte files open when processing the output PDF from a specific Book or file?

Hi,

My FM version is 7.2b144.
I am creating the links in FM.
I have all FM files in one book.
I am post-scripting the book, and then distilling.
Heading on page
All files in the book are open when processing the output PDF from the book

Consider doing the update for 7.2p158

⊱ Updated Book prior to Print Book?
⊱ In the Print Book dialog, have you selected (checked) "Generate Acrobat Data"?

⊱ Using Cross References to go from A to B? Any unresolved? Fix (resolve) if that's the case.

Links from Hypertext commands?
Character case matters. Is the path entered correctly (i.e., no typos)
Is the correct syntax used?
⊱ Jump to Named Destination? (gotolink filename:linkname).
⊱ Linkname correct? Check what's entered for Specify Named Destination (newlink linkname)
⊱Open Document? (openlink filename:linkname)
⊱ Is filename correct (and path prefix to the filename) ok? Is linkname correct?
⊱ Using Hypertext commands that do not export out to PDF?
Look at Help file or Users Guide book to see what can or cannot export.

I am using FM cross-references as hypertext links, rather than inserting hypertext commands. I update the book before printing (so no unresolved xrefs), and select Generate Acrobat Data in the print box.

On the Links tab of the PDF Setup dialog box, I selected the "Create Named
Destinations for All Paragraphs" check box. The links now work, but the PDF size has doubled.
