I recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat X. I had no problem with converting Microsoft Publisher files with Acrobat 9 but now I get an error message that reads: adobe pdf printer is not bound to adobe pdf port. It will not convert, plus Acrobat X freezes after a few minutes, which causes me to shutdown the software via the Task Manager.

I have a similar problem.

Windows 7 Enterprise, MS Office 2010 Pro, Acrobat X Pro. I am getting the "Adobe PDF not bound to Adobe PDF Port, etc." A google search found lots (and lots and lots) of references to fixing the problem in Windows Vista (change the port selection, but there is no Adobe PDF port in the setup I described above. Can anyone help?

Love Adobe. Love Acrobat. But it's surprising and a bit disappointing to find that this issue has existed since late 2008 (in Vista) and still has apparently not yet been addressed.
:(

Thanks

I now have the same problem as schtevmal. Upgraded to Acrobat X. Everything between Publisher and Acrobat X worked fine, until today. I didn't make any changes. Any solutions yet?

I can print to PDF ok but I get a print spooler error. This has only happened when it updated to 10.0.1 (Adobe Acrobat Pro X). When it was a virgin installation 10.0.0, the printing worked fine with no errors. Does anyone know how to get rid of the spooler error message? Just annoying to have to go in to delete all print jobs eventhough it has printed successfully. Thanks.

Hi, open Publisher and go to File, Print and then change the printer dropdown to Adobe PDF. Click ok and select a location to save your pdf.

Hi, I have been having a simular problem, when I install acrobat x standard from the disk (V10.0.0) everything is fine, but when it upgrades to either 10.0.1 or 10.0.2 when I choose to print using the PDF printer in IE8 it prints but then shows that it had an error and I have to manually delete this from the printer folder, and then tell the printer to pause printing and then resume to get it back to being "ready" for any further print jobs. If I choose convert it works fine,I only upgraded to this as V9 that I had was not compatible with MS office 2010. I have been in contact with support for over a month, with no joy.... anyone here got any suggestions?

Their answer to this is to revert back to the disk version of 10.0.0 and dont do any updates!

I'm basically having the same problem as "stressed" ... really agravating. Adobe 9 was MUCH better and stable. I had over 30 printing files "documents waiting to print" when opening up control panel and viewing the spool. While these had already printed, why are they still "waiting" and now some programs won't let me print to pdf at all until i clear the "waiting" files (which had already printed). Then I have to the same thing as stressed to print the file. STUPID!

well thats another hour out of my life!..... they got me to update, and before restarting, to repair, then restart, It is now 10.0.2 but yet again nothing has changed, when on this version, I can convert webpages, but not use the print option to use pdf printer!..... BUT...... they said they know of the problem so they are admitting it, and say a patch should be out soon, I asked how long, but she could not give me a date as they are still working on it.

Updated to 10.0.3 today, and nothing has changed, still getting the same problems, if you go to properties on the pdf printer in the printer folder and then ports, you will see that they still have not got it listed as a adobe pdf printer under local port at the end of the list, this is why it does not work right. It still leaves any pages converted in the printer folder as errors as if they did not print and until this is cleared of documents, it will not try to print anything else.
The only thing I have found that if pages print is weird print instead of how the page looks, to correct this instead of going to print, use the drop down next to covert, and then print web page, you can then choose adobe pdf printer and it will print with the correct fonts etc...
My work around at the moment is that I have purchased a £39.99 pdf programme that does the job that adobe cant fix! Adobe need to get this fixed as people wont be so willing to upgrade in future and use their products!

The quickest solution to correct this is to remove the Adobe PDF printer by right-clicking it and choosing Delete, then you'll need to run the Help > Repair Acrobat installation command. Ikassuba, thanks for the info, I upgraded to 10.0.3 and then deleted the pdf printer, and then got acrobat x to repair the installation, and it worked, but then found that it was still not happy with IE9

To stop getting problems printing webpages in IE9 and it telling you it cant fint the font "courier" I did this and it worked, so it may help others out there

Issue
When printing from Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) to the Adobe PDF Printer, the resulting PDF file may have missing or garbled text, or wont print as it cant find the font.

Solution
Uncheck the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts' from the Adobe PDF Settings tab within the Adobe PDF printer preferences dialog box.

To access the Adobe PDF printer preferences dialog box, please perform the following steps:

Open the Printers and Faxes (Windows XP), Printers (Windows Vista) or Devices and Printers (Windows 7) folder.
Right-click the Adobe PDF printer and choose 'Printing Preferences'.
On the Adobe PDF Settings tab, uncheck to option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.'
Click OK to close the printer preferences dialog box.

Thanks so much for posting your workaround. It may be necessary at this point because the current version of Acrobat 10.0.x doesn't officially support IE9.
