Combining Excel file into PDF - excel page renders too large

I create a lot of PDF documents that require combining multiple file types -- usually Excel, Word and PDF fillable forms -- into a single PDF. I frequently have to update the first page of the file (an Excel sheet), which I do with the Combine Files into PDF function, adding the Excel sheet to the existing PDF pages. I've been using Adobe Acrobat X Pro since its release, and haven't had any problems with it. I've got the 2007 version of Excel.

A few weeks ago, our IT department moved me onto a new computer and installed my copy of Acrobat X Pro onto it. Ever since, when I combine an Excel sheet into the existing PDF, it renders much larger than the existing PDF pages. I've checked all the Excel conversion settings, both in Acrobat and Excel, and in all places it's set to a default 8.5x11 page size, 600 dpi.

I've also tried converting my Excel sheets to PDF directly, and then adding them in to the existing PDF (both through Replace Page and Insert Page), but they still render far too large.

Because I only realized this problem after I published documents onto our website, you can see an example of the problem here: http://www.g3visa.com/visa_code/pdf/Afghanistan_Visa_Info_DC.pdf

Thanks for any insight and assistance you can offer!

I'll get you exact instructions shortly, but on quick glance the 1st page (from Excel) is 16.04" x 20.75". The other pages are letter size. You probably need to change your PDFMaker settings in Excel or your print settings to scale to the paper size, so that the Excel page ends up letter size also.

Thanks for your response, Kelly. I've already checked the conversion settings on both programs, and everywhere the default is set for 8.5x11. In the Excel PDFMaker preferences, I've also tried both "Fit Worksheet to a Single Page" and "Fit to Paper Width" and both settings still result in the 16x20 page.

I've found a workaround - if I use "Print to Adobe PDF" from Excel, it will result in a 8.5x11 page, which I can then use with either Combine, Replace or Insert functions on Acrobat. But I would like to have the PDFMaker work from Excel, so if you can offer any other suggestions, I'd welcome them.

Kelly and or Summer
Did either of you figure this out??
I also have the same problem and it causing me to waste lots of time.
I have always used Adobe to combine multiple files (word and Excel) into one file for reporting. But now I can't do that because the pages from the Excel files come out HUGE and I haven't been able to find any way to fix it. The settings in everything I have looked at say 8.5 x 11.

Is this a bug in Adobe X ???

thanks

Can someone send me a few Excel files to test? You can upload them to acrobat.com or email me at my personal address [email protected]. I don't believe this is a bug, but a settings issue. I need some larger files to test, because I rarely create Excel sheets (maybe 2 or 3 times a month) and they are letter sized.
