Creating a PDF from a scanner

The documents I scan sometimes have print on one side of the page and sometimes have print on both sides. Is there a setting in Adobe that tells the scanner (Fujitsu fi-5120c) to detect and scan only the sides that have print? Currently, I'm using the custom scan feature and have to select input as either front side or both sides.

I have reviewed various videos, articles, etc. in the learning center and come up short.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing in Acrobat X to detect this but have you tried to use the scanner's native interface mode? Choose File > Create > PDF From Scanner > Custom Scan. Then click the Options button and choose Show Scanner's Native Interface from the User Interface menu.

adding to the answer, when you set the fujitsu to duplex, it will scan both sides of every sheet regardless of content.

Trying "Choose File > Create > PDF From Scanner" results in an error message that Acrobat 8.2.5 and Windows doesn't work together. Any help?

this is an amendment to my post of the 27th. the twain driver for the fujitsu 61xx and 62xx models has a 'blank page skip' selection. see twain driver help under driver options > job/cache.

After I scan a document I would like to edit the PDF to include hyperlinks. What Adobe product would be best(cheapest) to preform this task. I have purchased non-Adobe product that claim they can do it, but when I save the edited doc the links never work. Thanks in advance.

there is no any differences between the scanners, you can adjust it from file-scanners menu.
