embed font issue on text fields

I have a pdf created using CS4 that has several text field boxes. That font does not embed when I choose it for the text boxes. It embeds fine without text boxes and straight data on the pdf. Is there a way around this issue? How can I get the font to embed when selected for a text field? Thanks.

Hi,

for text form field you should use Helvetica, Time or Courier.
Using another font is often not a good idea…

Thanks for your response. So are you saying any other fonts will give me problems? (ie not embedding?) Are the fonts you listed only available for embedding for edit? Would the manufacturer of any other font I want to use in my text field limit the level of embedding allowed? Thanks

How are you determining that the font isn't embedded? And just to clarify, are you talking about a text form field, or a text box annotation (comment)?

Normally for a text form field, when you select one of the non-base-14 fonts, the complete font gets included in the PDF.

We are verifying the fonts embed by File->Properties. We are creating text form fields. Thanks.

What font are you using? It has to have the editable embedding permission set.

That's what I am thinking as well after more research. Is it possible to allow editable embedding on a font via purchase or some other means?

You would have to contact the font vendor, since it really depends on what the font creator wants to allow. For example, here's a list of Adobe's fonts and their embedding permissions: http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/legal/embeddingeula.php
