Embed index and fast web view

Does embedding an index mean the file can't be set for fast web view? For the 80+ PDF file I'm optimizing, I discovered that the embedded index I've created for the file is gone every time I use "Save As" which is set for fast web view.

Is there something I'm missing in my process?

I've repeated the process three times, which is:
1. Advanced > Document Processing > Manage Embedded Index > Embed Index, click OK on the dialog box asking if I want to proceed.
2. Click OK on the "Manage Embedded Index" dialog box.
2. "Save As" for Fast web view

When I return to Advanced > Document Processing > Manage Embedded Index, the index is missing.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

What I believe is happening is that the embed index process does a File > Save which disables the Fast Web View. What I'm trying to understand is how to enable Fast Web View with File > Save As and still maintain the embedded index already in the PDF file.

Just asking for confirmation, are fast web view and an embedded index mutually exclusive?

fyi- observed the same behavior. So, I suspect you've hit upon an "OR" condition. 8^)

I think you mean exclusive or, XOR, because OR is true if both conditions are true.

These are exclusive choices because a web based PDF will not have the catalog index available to it because there is a differn plugin providing the index service on the web server.

Guess I'm a bit confused by the answer. I'm not adding a catalog file, I'm embedding the index into the PDF file. I don't know anything about a plugin for the index service.

While I was waiting for a response on the forum, I did get a response back from Donna Baker, who confirmed that an embedded index and fast web view were mutually exclusive. You can have one, but not the other feature.

Older versions of Acrobat created special folders of indexed inforamtion through the catalog function.
