My system:
MS XP Pro SP2
MS Office 2003 Pro & Adobe Acrobat 7.09
"Error Message:
an error occurred while creating a temporary file:
Word was unable to write some of the embedded objects due to insufficient memory or disk space."
I have 3 Megs of RAM installed so I don't believe the memory problem. And, it will still convert MS Word docs if I print to Adobe. No software issues with AdobePDFMaker until I had to re-install MS Office Suite. I have also tried repairing Adobe Acrobat but still get error message...

Hi gpasso,

There are several ways to troubleshoot errors with PDFMaker. First, it's possible that there is a conflict with multiple versions of the macro. The following technical note addresses how to troubleshoot this:

This particular problem happened to me today, too. I'm running Acrobat 7.0.9 and Word 2003, on Windows XP (with the latest SP installed).

"An error occurred while creating a temporary file. Word was unable to write some of the embedded objects due to insufficient memory or disk space."

Tried some of the Troubleshooting options provided in this thread, and others, but they did not help (clearing out TMP files; looking for Acrobat 6 files; running Detect and Repair in Acrobat).

What was strange is that Acrobat PDFMaker worked on the same file earlier today, but after resaving it to a new name, and applying some minor format changes, the file failed when using Acrobat PDFMaker.

To resolve the problem, I went back to my "backup" (last saved copy, under a different name). I saved it to a new name (so if I had to go back and do this all over again, I'd still have a "good" base copy on hand), then reapplied all the changes (that had previously made the file fail when using Acrobat PDFMaker).

It worked/solved the problem. I was successfully able to create the PDF.

Side note: The file that failed, and the file that finally worked, are approximately 1 MB different in file size. Not sure why, because visually, they're identical.
