Extracting Files from a PDF Package

I see where you can extract and save individual files that have been created in a PDF package, however, I do not see where there is a capability to extract and save all of the files either simultaneously or in a batch. I want to create a PDF package from an outlook PST mailbox containing roughly 19,000 messages. Next, I need to Bates Stamp the messages. Acrobat tells me that I cannot Bates Stamp the messages in the package. Can anyone help me?
Thanks so much.

Hi --

Here's something that might get you heading in the right direction.

When you create the package, combine all the messages into one file. Then, from within Acrobat, choose Document > Extract Pages, and choose the option to Extract Pages as Separate Files. You'll end up with 19000 files, numbered in sequence. From this point on the Bates numbering should logically work.

Donna,
thank you so much for your prompt reply. Unfortunately, this does not work. I did exactly what you indicated. I created a package from a folder of email messages. The package is then opened in Acrobat 8 which, when opened, shows all of the files (messages) from the email folder. When I then go to extract pages as separate files as you suggest, Acrobat only shows pages 1 of 2, rather than pagees 1 of X (total quantity unknown). Subsequently, I went back and did a select all of all messages, which highlights all of the message files, thinking that this was a necessary step. Again, I go back to extract all pages to files, and again, Acrobat only picks up 2 pages rather than the all of the pages of all the files.
Actually, my real question is does Bates numbering work with packages or not. That is pretty simple. If it does not, it does not. Everything I read says that it does, yet I have not found any way to do any of this......
Thanks again.

Yes, you can add Bates Numbers to Packages.
You do not need to extract the pages of each PDF in a Package.
With the Package open, select a PDF, process through adding Bates Numbers to this open PDF. Reiterate for each PDF in the Package.
Obviously, this takes awhile.
Makes one wonder if there something tucked away in Preflights that can be
used with a Batch Sequence or, perhaps with javascript...

Note that, in the Bates Numbering dialog box, you must select/check
"Include all open PDF documents".

Although the Outlook folder I did this for did not have as large a population as Larry's, I encountered no problems.

Be well...
