Getting bars and lines near page number?

http://www.adobe.com/epaper/tips/acr5ebook/pdfs/eBook.pdf - this is a very good looking ebook. I want to get those thick black bars near the page number and also the lines on each page that have the chapter name and section of the book on each page. How would I go about creating something like that? I use openoffice as my word processor but I'm not sure if I can do it in there either.

Hi krull,
While the effect you describe was put together in the FrameMaker authoring file similar effects can be achieved in InDesign, Word, Publisher, etc.
Templates available for these are on the web and many have something the same or similar within them.
I'd guess Open Office templates are also available on the web.
With some templates in hand and, perhaps, some editing you ought to be able to replicate the effect.

My understanding is that there is a measure of integration between MS Word / Open Office
in that you can bring a Word file into Open Office. Perhaps a Word template file, from the web, having what you want (or something close)
would serve (?).
