Interactive Bookmarks

I am running Acrobat 9, Windows XP and MS Word 2000.

When I print a Word file with Acrobat, it prints fine and the .pdf looks fine, however I am unable to get Acrobat to create bookmarks for the Word file during printing. I have checked all the settings which I am aware of and all look okay.

Just wondering if anyone had any idea just what might be causing this.

Thanks.

"Print" is just that, print to an electronic sheet of paper or a virtual printer. Does you printer automatically insert index tabs? None the the printers that I use do.

You have to use PDF Maker button or macro in MS Office and set the conversion options for creating the bookmarks and what Word features and structures you want to be used to create bookmarks.

nukeman77,
Using File > Print and selecting the Adobe Printer will get you an output PDF.
This PDF will have no interactivity (bookmarks, links, etc.)
To "pass through" the interactivity you must use the Adobe PDFMaker.

However, Acrobat 9 (any release) PDFMaker is not compatible with Office 2000.
See:
Acrobat PDF-capable web browsers and PDFMaker-compatible applications (Acrobat 6.x - 9.x on Windows and Mac OS)

To resolve and be able to use the benefits of Adobe PDFMaker you can —
--| Upgrade to Office XP, 2003, or 2007
(for awhile, avoid 2010 see: Acrobat FAQ)

--| Deactivate, uninstall Acrobat 9, install & activate Acrobat 8Be well

Be well...
